We were able to hand out food parcels and blankets again on the 10 July 2009 due to your overwhelming support of our newest project. We arrived early, just in time for one of our supporters to see the soup kitchen project in action. It's overwhelming to see so many children living on the bread line, scrambling to get a few pieces of bread and a little soup. We take so much for granted.
After all the beneficiaries had arrived and the rest of the volunteers, we started handing out the food parcels and blankets. These food parcels are set to the international basic food standards and should see these beneficiaries through for a month. After we had handed over all the goodies, the beneficiaries burst into song and praise. It's always a heartwarming experience.
A heartfelt thanks to Leslie Grant from the Lombardy East Methodist Church that spent the afternoon with us and brought knitted woolies fo the children, as well as Magdeline Jobe of Car Towing Services East for being there on the day and their contribution to our Blanket Drive.
